When is damon and elenas first kiss

Elena continued to dance around her feelings for Damon in season 3. During their road trip to Denver in "Heart Of Darkness," the doppelganger finally gave in to passion and shared an intense make-out session with the elder Salvatore on a motel balcony. Damon and Elena's chemistry continued to intensify as they searched for the originator of the Salvatores' bloodline.

Their steamy lip-lock was an inevitability, though the road to their happily ever after remained rockier than ever. Damon confessed his feelings to Elena for the first time during season 2's "Rose" after seeking her out to return her vervain necklace. Before remitting the jewelry, Damon admitted to being in love with his brother's girlfriend — before erasing all trace of his confession from her memory.

Damon's declaration of love was immediately followed by one of his first selfless acts in the series. The vampire recognized Elena's good heart and conceded that his brother was more deserving of her love.

Elena broke the hearts of Delena fans everywhere during the season 3 finale when she finally made her choice between the Salvatore brothers. Stranded between them, Elena decided to return to Stefan, telling Damon that things may have worked out differently if they had met first. The Stelena sparks in Season 1 were so strong it's shocking the bed didn't catch on fire.

Not even a sullen, sarcastic Damon could ruin the tender moment. What happens when a vampire and a werewolf finally give into their urges? This scene in the Season 3 premiere. Although a werewolf bite is fatal to a vampire, Caroline and Tyler tempted fate and succumbed to their desire. Damon and Elena had been at the lake watching a meteor shower when they got caught in a rainstorm. When he returned from the dead, Damon lied to Elena and said once the rain started that night, they were miserable and left early.

What really happened was Elena professed her eternal love to Damon and then kissed him in the pouring rain. We all needed a cold shower after this one! Damon found solace in the arms of another woman, Rebekah, leading to this shirt-ripping, neck-nibbling romp that ended the episode with a literal bang.

If anything, this scene makes crypts look like the hottest make out spot ever. There was also the fact that the creators of the show always wanted Elena and Stefan to end up together, so no wonder it took so long for Delena's first kiss.

They also wanted both Damon and Stefan to die by the end of the show too. Since the end of season one, there was hope for Delena. There were teases. That moment in the rain, their dance, Isobel's revelation of Damon's love Season two was no better. We never knew we'd hate the words "it'll always be Stefan" so much. The whole season saw a drought in juicy Delena moments until Damon confessed his love for Elena Were the writers teasing us? Yes, and no.

They had grand plans. One of the biggest questions that the writer's dealt with in the early seasons was when Stelena was going to break up. They had to consider what all the fans would think if they broke up and Delena happened immediately, and they had to give both brothers their time with her. Executive producer Julie Plec also had a firm belief that Delena shouldn't happen until Elena was a vampire, which they had planned for the end of season four, so it was just a waiting game.

Damon made Elena jealous by flirting with another girl in one scene, Stefan caught her when she fell in the next. We're not talking about epic, sweeping romantic moments. We're talking about a look here, a touch of the knee there. Because the show was calculated and incredibly subtle in both building the relationship of Damon and Elena and rebuilding the relationship of Stefan and Elena. You have to be when your season contains 22 episodes.

Damon and Elena didn't share a kiss until episode 11 of the season. Stefan and Elena, the love story upon which the show had been built in its first two years, did not kiss until the season finale. Let's say that one more time: The show managed to get through 21 episodes without its core couple so much as kissing, and yet Stefan and Elena's love never felt like it was gone. It coursed through the show with the same electricity it always had, as the thing that propelled each of them forward.

It should be stated that the show was able to survive on an entire season of almost-moments in large part due to the chemistry between the actors. Not every show could get away with a look between two people holding as much weight as Stefan and Elena in a closet in Chicago or Damon and Elena in his bathroom after the bonfire. But thanks to that chemistry, the show didn't need multiple make-outs and big speeches to make the love triangle feel real.

And by never having Elena waver in her love for Stefan, despite her feelings for Damon, she remained likable as the heroine of the story. At no point did she forget Stefan in favor of her new relationship with Damon. She struggled with both, all season long. As she told Stefan in episode 18, "I never stopped loving you. Somehow, The Vampire Diaries managed to build a new love story without destroying the one that launched its series.
