After connecting the Macs using the Firewire cable, and then restarting the older Mac in Transfer mode holding down 'T' I've also tried connecting through the AirPort with the same results. In addition, I tried running Migration Assistant outside of the installation process to see if there was any difference, but no luck.
Is there a known issue with Migration Assistant from Tiger to Leopard? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Brad Message was edited by: shoptb. More Less. Reply I have this question too I have this question too Me too Me too.

I can't imagine that you would be required to upgrade the old computer to Leopard before Migration Assistant will work. That makes no sense. Something else must be going on. I thought it might have something to do with the fact that I also have a BootCamp partition on this computer. But perhaps not since you're having the problem upgrading from a PowerBook G4. I did go ahead and leverage an external hard drive to get my iTunes and iPhoto libraries over to the new computer, but I'm not sure about a lot of the other settings that I would like to migrate.
Thanks Brad. I didn't notice any solutions, unless I missed something. Mar 1, AM in response to shoptb In response to shoptb No solutions that I'm aware of as yet. User profile for user: bruceCA bruceCA.

The OS Apple offers Migration Assistant both when setting up a Mac whether new or erased and as an app within macOS, particularly to migrate user accounts and applications. As a source, you can use a Time Machine backup, a disk image copy of your macOS startup volume via a cloning app, for instance , or another Mac. Attempts to copy from older installations lead to an error.
It may seem like a pain, but if you have a computer that can be upgraded to This list of models from One World Computing will help you figure out if your Mac can be upgraded that far.
