Even though Porsche had a strong sales year globally, only 2, examples of the were sold in Q4 in the US, which is just over a quarter of the number of Corvettes that found homes in the same period. For the year, 8, s were sold in the US in as opposed to 21, units of the Corvette. The cheaper lineup - comprising the Boxster and Cayman - moved 1, units between October and December last year.
Of course, the Corvette's far more attractive price surely has a lot to do with these figures. Another much pricier sports car, the Mercedes-AMG GT, could only manage to move units in the final quarter of last year. Then again, it starts at more than double the price of the Corvette C8.
Among premium sports cars, the C8's market share increased dramatically, buoyed by its strong finish to the year and helping to banish memories of close to a year ago, when production of the Corvette was cut short. Elsewhere in Chevy's lineup, the C8 even outsold the struggling - and much cheaper - Camaro in Q4, with the latter managing just 7, units, a drop of 34 percent relative to the same period the year before.
With the first Corvette already delivered and hopefully no more production woes to deal with, should be a stellar year for the sports car. Add first comment. Now Buzzing. The garage already has a Buick in it. The old dudes got the cash and the time to drive them. What good is cash gonna do you when you are old and sickly living in a nursing home and waiting for death to arrive?
But at least everyone is safe in these trying times. The dealer told me they put me in for a model now, so be it. These are interesting stats but does anyone have any up to date production intel to share? I ordered my car in Sept. I was hopeing it would have already moved to and then given a TPW. Any shared intel would be very helpful for the remainder of us still waiting for our cars to be built and delivered!
I ordered a Blade Silver in late August. Probably wont hear anything about even being on the build list until Dec or Jan The guess right now is it may get built in 2nd Q [say April-June]. As for the buying age, I too am a bit curious. Only to see how many people below the age of, say, 40 have actually purchased one.
